Does this sound like you?
- A stiff neck that makes it hard to turn your head or check your blind spot
- Pain that builds after hours at a desk, laptop, or phone
- Pain that spreads into your shoulders or between your shoulder blades
- Numbness or tingling down your arm or into your hand
- Headaches that seem to start at the base of your skull
- Neck pain that started after a car accident or fall
Why we start with the source, not the symptom
Your head weighs roughly 10 to 12 pounds. Imagine balancing a bowling ball on your fingertips all day, and you have a sense of what your neck does every waking hour. When the joints in your neck lose normal motion or a disc is irritated, the result can be stiffness, pain, or symptoms that travel into the shoulders and arms.
Neck pain is a signal, not a diagnosis. That is why Dr. Brenda Slovin uses the Gonstead technique: a detailed system of examination and analysis designed to identify the specific area of the spine involved, followed by precise, hands-on adjustments. If we find that chiropractic is not the right fit for your case, we will tell you and refer you to the right provider.

Common questions
Do you treat neck pain from car accidents and whiplash?
Yes. Dr. Erik Slovin focuses on auto accident and personal injury cases, including whiplash. Neck symptoms after a crash can show up days later, so it is worth being examined even if you felt fine at the scene.
Can posture and screen time cause neck pain?
They can contribute. Looking down at a phone or laptop for long periods increases the load on the neck. Part of your visit is looking at how you sit, work, and sleep, not just where it hurts.
Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?
No. You can book directly with us. Some insurance plans have their own requirements, so we check your plan before your first visit.
Do you take insurance?
We accept most major insurance. Call (203) 840-0000 and the front desk will confirm your coverage before your first visit.
What is the Gonstead technique?
Gonstead is a chiropractic system that combines a detailed examination with specific, hands-on adjustments. The goal is to identify the exact area of the spine involved rather than adjusting the whole back the same way.
